Athlone Film Club joins the World-wide Web

Exciting times ahead for Athlone Film Club as they launched their new website in the Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday 19th August.

The website which was researched and designed by local web designer Ian Munt from www.uonline.ie goes live this week and can be accessed by the domain name www.athlonefilmclub.com.

Ian has spent the last few months extensively researching examples of filmclub websites worldwide before finalising the club’s website design.
The website will contain details of the clubs seasonal films and news and events. There will also be an opportunity to engage in film selection and reviews.
 
Speaking at the launch, club chairperson Alan Shaw commended Ian’s  website design. The club has succeeded in its first year in establishing itself as a vital part of Athlone’s social scene with a strong membership base.  Mr. Shaw is confident that the new website will promote the club further and consolidate the existing membership base. He pointed out that there is also a feature on the site to download membership forms for the upcoming Autumn season which commences on Tuesday, September 15th with the Irish produced film ‘Kisses.’ There is likewise a feature on the site to join the club’s mailing list.

The club ventures further into the worldwide web with their page on the global phenomenon that is facebook.  It is also another opportunity for members to engage in the running of the club.
