Athlone Film Club was established in September 2008 under the patronage of the Dean Crowe Theatre Trust.

Affiliated with Access Cinema our aim is to give local audiences the opportunity to see a range of world and classic cinema that rarely make it to commercial cinema.  Only the very best films are screened by Athlone Film Club.  We do significant film research prior to film selection each season.

We have two seasons every year, Autumn/ Winter and Spring.  We screen our films every second Tuesday at 8pm in the Dean Crowe Theatre & Arts Centre, Athlone.  Prior to each screening we provide complimentary wine in the Theatre Bar where people can socialise and discuss the forthcoming films.

Since our inaugural season in 2008 we have fast established ourselves as one of
Ireland’s fastest growing film clubs and we have become a well known part of Athlone’s vibrant social scene. With 150 members and growing, the Film Club shows a varied selection of films with members participating in the selection process.

The Film Club has also attracted members of varying nationalities and cultures and this is reflected in the multi-cultural themes of the films we show.  We have also many members from the Institute of Technology Athlone who join us during College term.  Special student discounts are provided by the Club.

Athlone Film Club screens films on a big screen in the comfort of a modern theatre.  We screen the films that our members want to see and feedback is very important to us.  Members join us for a different experience.  This club is a cut above the rest.  Better than commercial cinema, better than video hire and better than sitting at home on a Tuesday night.
